Safe drivingThis is a system aimed to make assessments in order to induce the manufacturers to produce safer motor vehicles.
What is the motor vehicle safety evaluation system?
The evaluation of the level of motor vehicle safety refer to evaluating the motor vehicle safety and releasing the results to the consumers through collision tests, etc., with an end to offer the consumers a wider spectrum of opportunities to choose from and induce the manufacturers to produce safer motor vehicles.
The government is conducting evaluation of motor vehicle safety level and releasing its results hosted by the Ministry of Land and Transport as of 1999 with an eye to evaluate the level of motor vehicle safety through motor vehicle collision tests, etc., offer information to the consumers, induce the manufacturers to produce safer motor vehicles and reduce loss of human lives caused by traffic accidents.
It has evaluated and gone public with the level of safety in areas such as safety in head-on collisions, etc., targeting 157 models of passenger cars, 5 models of vans, 2 models of compact freight trucks stocks since 1999 up until 2017.
In 2018, last year, has evaluated 22 areas such as safety in head-on collision, safety in partial head-on collision, safety in lateral collision, safety in column side collision, safety in collision with children, safety in pedestrians, safety in prevention of accidents, etc., targeting 11 models of passenger cars including 4 models of imported cars.
In particular, last year it has evaluated the level of safety of eco-friendly motor vehicles such as hydrogen-driven cars and offered the results to the consumers and gave them the opportunity to opt for the encompassing and reasonable eco-friendly cars which not only reckons the frugality in areas such as the distance covered, maintenance costs, etc. of the motor vehicle but also the safety, upon the purchase of an eco-friendly car.
The detailed results of the evaluation of motor vehicle safety level may be easily confirmed at the home page of motor vehicle Safety Level Evaluation(www.kncap.org).
The government plans to provide information that continuously reflects the requests from the consumers upon the motor vehicle Safety Level Evaluation in order to contribute to the growth of national motor vehicle industry as well as the safe living of the public.
